Congratulations to winners of the 2014 YOGIE Awards!

The Youth Coalition is pleased to announce the winners of the 2014 YOGIE Awards, which were announced on Friday 5 December 2014.

The annual YOGIE Awards recognise, celebrate, promote, and reward outstanding practice in working with young people in the ACT and surrounding areas. The YOGIES are presented annually by the ACT Minister for Children and Young People. Awards are presented in 10 categories that recognise the work of groups and individuals, with young people, workers, individuals, programs and services invited to provide nominations. The judging panel is comprised of a representative from ACT Government, the community youth sector, and the Youth Coalition.

The winners of the 2014 YOGIES are:

  • Outstanding Achievement in Youth Participation Award - Youth Connections, Anglicare ACT
  • Innovation in Practice Award - Program For After School Studies, MARSS
  • Collaboration for Change Award - Multicultural Youth Affairs Network ACT
    Commendation for Partnership Brokers, ACT Business Chamber
  • Excellence in Research and Evaluation - Limiting Futures: Youth Unemployment in the ACT, Anglicare NSW South, NSW West & ACT
  • Excellence in Organisational Practice Award - Youth Support and Transition Team, OCYFS, Community Services Directorate
  • Outstanding Youth Worker Award - Ben Pegram, The Woden School
  • Outstanding New Talent Award - Andrew Fraser, Connections ACT
  • Outstanding Contribution to Young People Award - Zoe Winters, Erindale College
    Commendation for Shyanne Watson, Anglicare ACT
  • Lifetime Achievement Award - Natalie Oliver, Anglicare ACT
  • Youth Coalition Staff Acknowledgement Award - Gulanga Program, ACTCOSS

The YOGIES were hosted by the Youth Coalition and the Community Services Directorate, and jointly celebrated with the Young Canberra Citizen of the Year Award. The winners of the Young Canberra Citizen of the Year Awards are:

  • Young Canberra Citizen of the Year – Nipuni Wijewickrema
  • Personal Achievement – Michelle Keevers
  • Individual Community Service - Nipuni Wijewickrema
  • Group Achievement – NbC Radio on 2XX
  • Youth Arts and Multimedia – NbC Radio on 2XX
  • Young Environmentalist – Vanessa Farrelly

The Young Canberra Citizen of the Year Awards are sponsored by Beyond Bank, Anglicare ACT, University of Canberra, Australian Catholic University, the Riverview Group, and contentgroup.
