The Youth Coalition of the ACT and the Multicultural Youth Affairs Network (MYAN) ACT would like to invite you to attend the forum, "Transitions and Careers: What are the barriers for multicultural young people in the ACT?"

Transitioning from school to higher education or employment is a significant life event for all young people, but what is the experience of multicultural young people in the ACT, particularly newly arrived and refugee young people?

Last year, the Youth Coalition and MYAN ACT hosted three forums focussing on the educational experience of multicultural young people. Following these forums, MYAN ACT members identified that transitioning from school to higher education or employment is a significant issue for multicultural young people in the ACT.

The panel of speakers will discuss the transition supports currently available, what the barriers are for multicultural young people and how to best support the post-school transitions of multicultural young people in the Canberra community. Local and interstate speakers include:

  • Nadine Liddy, National Coordinator, MYAN Australia
  • Hongsar Channaibanya, Companion House
  • Transitions and Careers, Education and Training Directorate
  • Young multicultural speakers
