Youth Coalition of the ACT 2014-15 Annual Report: Projects

The Youth Coalition worked on a range of exciting projects in 2014-15, including:

Youth Work, More than Just Pizza

The ‘Youth Work: It’s More Than Pizza’ project aimed to influence the youth sector to provide healthy, affordable food and positive nutritional messaging to young people accessing their services.

A full report on the 'Youth Work: It's More Than Pizza' project is available here, and an infographic with a short summary of the project is available here.

National Youth Week

National Youth Week 2015 took place from 10 - 19 April. National Youth Week in the ACT was fun, vibrant and a fantastic celebration. With 63 events there was plenty of choice for young people wanting to get involved. The Youth Coalition distributed $13,000 in grants to encourage a diverse calendar of events throughout National Youth Week.

The official launch of National Youth Week in the ACT was the National Youth Week Expo (click here to view photos), where hundreds of young people and youth workers took over the city centre to be entertained by young bands, dancers, and circus performers. ACT National Youth Week young member Annie Zhou kept the event running smoothly as MC and Mick Gentleman MLA, the ACT Minister for Children and Young People, who was there to officially open National Youth Week in the ACT, showed off his healthy cooking skills in a celebrity cook off!

There was significant media interest throughout the week, including the ACT’s National Youth Week young member being interviewed on 2XX, and coverage on individual events such as Just Sayin’, Gugan Gulwan Youth Week Day, and Right Here, Right Now.
